so. i finished watching it yesterday. i don't know. i don't have a verdict. i like it, i love it, i hate it. all of that, mixed, jumbled and maybe i can summarize it into one conclusion.
i'm optimistic.
shonda rhimes truly did burn the house down. burned it to the ground. nobody was left in tact. no one. derek, burke, christina, meredith, izzie, george, callie, bailey, richard, sloan, addison, karev, ...absolutely everyone. and i'm hanging over this precipice that threatens to throw me off with one flick of a finger. there were so many questions unanswered. so many things to contemplate. but then...shonda also promised she'd have a beginning for everyone.
so with that faith, i hold my breath, and try to make best of the situation. i tell myself, it's just a bloody drama. nothing to fret over. it'd be all right. whatever happens, i shall watch it for its entertainment value. for all its worth.
and anyway, as i said before, i'm optimistic. there are bound to be good things to come, and i'm willing to be surprised.
and unlike popular opinion (over at grey's anatomy insider, according to one source), i personally like Private Practice, a Grey's Anatomy spin off featuring Addison.
For Burke.. i feel for him. and though it didn't make me particularly happy, i know in my heart, that he's doing the right thing, for the right reasons. but what was not right was that he did it too late. he made christina want it. and then take it back.
For Christina.. i feel for her too. she finally found someone she was willing to adjust and compromise for. but turns out, she shouldn't have to.
For Derek.. aiyaaa...dude. ya know Mer is one dark and twisty soul. but he did try. and disappointing as it is that she couldn't give him the straight answer he needed in order to stay, she has got her issues. but her uncertainty sure speaks volumes.
For Meredith.. tsk. the woman should seriously conquer her issues and let bygones be bygones. if she doesn't want to repeat whatever mistakes her mother did with her dad, then she should collect her pieces and move on. and take the attitude that she can choose to be who she wants to be, live her life the way she want it to be. hard to see it through, but it's possible if one tried hard enough.
For Izzie.. Fark. What the heck are ya thinking, girl? She should get her head realigned.
For George.. Great. The experience should knock some sense and make him grow up more. i mean, come on. for a good part of the season, (possibly the whole season), i have been saying, "George has to grow up." seriously. this bitter experience should ground him and make him a man. *hopeful*return the georgie podgie i adored in the first two seasons, aye? but with more maturity..
For Callie.. u go, girl! but maybe it'd help if she just saw that she's made for better stuff than George. unless George can own up and be a man. the kinda man Callie deserves. so she wants to try for a baby. it'd better be for the right reason and at the right time. no relationship should survive with having a kid at its foundation. a relationship should be there for its own reasons. nothing else.
For Karev.. sigh. never good with bedside manner, but always said the right things. right on spot. he misses his chances, but maybe it'd teach him.
Sloan.. heh. dude will move on. but i have a feeling we'll see special appearances in Private Practice that might just rock Addison's world and stir some of Pete's.
Richard.. there's hope yet for this old dude. maybe now he and adele can enjoy their life together and for once, he'd know where to draw the line.
Bailey.. tough as nails. she may not have nailed the Chief Residency, but to be fair, Callie does well too. but this is about Bailey. no one is really the boss of her anyway. not getting the Chief Residency is only a matter of position. not necessarily significant.
And Addison.. she may not be able to get the one thing that she wanted most now. but she'll get by because she only really need it because she thinks it would bring meaning to her life. it was something she knew she can count on. it was the change in her world that she needed most. well, she will get that change, now wouldn't she, what with Private Practice,.. then with Pete there and his alternative medicine.. it might just work wonders and for all you know, if the time is right, and the story flows well.. Shonda might be able to cook something up for Addison to get that bun baking in her oven. <<- blardy corny, i know, but best metaphor i can come up with right now.
ciao.
